Black Work coif I have made. It is based on a piece of Black Work in the Carew-Pole collection in the Bath Costume Museum in Bath England. The pattern was created by Lauren Mellin. Using a pattern is very period. These types of embroidered coifs were worn from about 1570 to 1630 (or later by lower social classes). This is the third embroidered coif I have made.
